ABOUT | Dr. Jesse Middleton

Congrats Dr. Middleton!
Jesse & her husband, Matt, welcomed a baby boy, Marshall Rory Middleton, on February 2nd.

Dr. Middleton's passion for Traditional Chinese Medicine and the healing arts was ignited by her brother’s lengthy and pernicious struggle with Lyme disease. When he contracted the disease, her family spent years working with the medical community to address it with little success. Her brother’s condition spiraled downward; no one knew how to help. Then, good fortune led the family to Traditional Chinese Medicine through which they were able to manage the disease and work to heal the damage it caused. This life event, though tragic, inspired her to become a Doctor of Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine.

Dr. Middleton earned her first Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University. She then graduated Summa Cum Laude from East West College of Natural Medicine in Sarasota, Florida where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Professional Health Sciences and a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine. Dr. Middleton then completed her Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine at Pacific College of Health & Sciences, graduating Summa Cum Laude. In addition to her studies in the classroom, Dr. Middleton has enjoyed several weeks of travel and learning in China. This allowed her the opportunity to experience herbal medicine and China's rich culture first hand.

Dr. Middleton has been certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and has achieved status as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine. She is a Board-Certified Herbalist and Licensed Acupuncturist in the State of Michigan. The more Dr. Middleton learns, the clearer she sees how substantial and substantive this field of health care truly is. Dr. Middleton plans to be a lifelong student. She has recently completed her Practitioner Certification through the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM). She now offers Functional Medicine services at Black River Acupuncture & Integrative Wellness, including dietary therapy and supplements.

Dr. Middleton is from the Metro-Detroit area and moved to West Michigan in 2020. She lives in Grandville with her husband, Matt. She loves exercising, cooking beautiful food, and hanging out with her golden retriever, Stanley.

Dr. Middleton is warm, positive, energetic, and compassionate. She is grateful to be a part of the dynamic, knowledgeable team at Black River Acupuncture and Integrative Wellness, and is excited to meet you!
